Under the DG-AGRI Framework contract for the evaluation studies of CAP measures contributing to the general objectives of balanced territorial development, ADE is currently conducting an evaluation on funding for EU rural areas (May 2023 – March 2024). ÖIR GmbH is the evaluation project leader.
This study focuses on Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) measures or interventions that support rural areas beyond farming, adding support, where relevant, to the long-term vision for the EU’s rural areas, to farming and producers’ organisations, for example when seeking to improve environmental resilience (e.g. carbon farming) or supporting labelling and geographical indications that contribute to prosperous rural areas.
Beyond general data at EU and national level, the study will conduct a set of 12 case studies with a more thorough and detailed analysis. It will respond to seven evaluation questions, focusing in particular on effectiveness, relevance and coherence.
