From April until end of November 2022, ADE implemented the mid-term evaluation of the “Supporting the Implementation of the PFM Reform Strategic Plan in Bangladesh” programme for the EU Delegation in Bangladesh. This work allowed to assess results against expected objectives and to learn lessons to improve future interventions.

Bangladesh has been among the fastest growing economies in the world over the past decade, but this growth was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The EU has continuously provided support to this country, in particular by assisting in Public Finance Management reforms in Bangladesh. The EU bilateral programme was specifically designed to support domestic revenue mobilisation and financial accountability efforts.

After ADE’s team conducted data collection through field visits and remote interviews, it then drated a report in which it formulated several recommendations for the benefit of the EU Delegation, the National Board of Revenue, the Office of the Comtroller and Auditor General, and the National Parliament.

In the last phase of the project, dissemination meetings and seminaries were organized to share knowledge and lessons learnt. In those meetings, the Government and the EU Delegation expressed their satisfaction over the quality of the evaluation.
