ADE is structured in different departments:
- Impact: Focuses on project and program evaluations using mixed-methods, with a stronger emphasis on quantitative data analysis.
- Evaluation: Specializes in strategic and policy evaluations, primarily using analytical and qualitative approaches to inform decisionmaking.
- Agriculture and Rural development: works on agriculture, its environmental and climate aspects, on rural development, particularly on the CAP at EU level and in Member States.
- Humanitarian Action: Focuses on evaluations in the humanitarian sector, including for UN agencies.
- Economic Governance: Provides technical assistance and undertakes studies, evaluations, and diagnostics related to Public Financial Management and macroeconomic reforms. Supports the design and implementation of budget support operations.
All these departments/units are looking for interns to join them in April 2025 (flexible) for 5-6 months.
We are looking for a candidate with
MAIN SKILLS REQUIRED
- Currently studying for a Master’s university degree, preferably in Economics, Political Sciences, or similar. – student status is mandatory
- Outstanding analytical skills
- Solid research and writing skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams
- Good command of the main computer software packages (Word, PPT, and Excel)
- Excellent level of written and spoken English; other languages (French, Spanish, Arabic) are a plus.
- Knowledge of public policy evaluation, development cooperation or humanitarian aid
WOULD BE AN ASSET:
- Impact department: Experience with impact evaluation methods and strong quantitative data analysis skills, including in statistical software (e.g., STATA, R), survey tools (e.g., KoboToolBox, SurveyCTO), and satellite remote sensing tools (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Evaluation department: Experience in policy analysis and qualitative research methods and familiarity with evaluation frameworks and tools, especially for policy and strategic evaluations.
- Agriculture and Rural development: knowledge of and interest in agricultural policy, environmental, climate and rural development issues, knowledge of the CAP.
- Humanitarian Action: Experience in qualitative data collection and analysis, and basic understanding of the humanitarian system, emergency response and (triple) nexus programming.
- Economic Governance: Knowledge and interest in PFM, macroeconomic reforms, and budget support operations, complemented by strong skills in economic analysis. Interest in business development.
What you will do:
As an intern at ADE, you will actively participate in a variety of evaluation projects.
More specifically, you will contribute to:
- Reflection with the team on the most appropriate evaluation design and methodology for each project.
- Preparation of data collection tools, including surveys, interview guides, and focus group discussion templates.
- Quantitative and qualitative research and analysis, including data collection, coding, and analysis using various tools and methodologies.
- Participating in report drafting and contributing to the creation of visualizations for client presentations.
- Support to tendering processes, including support to search of expertise, budge preparation and proposal writing.
- Contributing to other ADE activities, such as project management, and knowledge dissemination
