The International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) has commissioned ADE to conduct a scoping study on policies and interventions providing financial instruments for agricultural risk reduction for farmers in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC).

This study will construct an evidence gap map (EGM) in order to identify the fields where more rigorous evidence is needed. Moreover, it will explore the sequence of causal links through a theory of change framework to shed light on the mechanisms through which the outcomes and impact might occur. Finally, this study will elicit views of the main stakeholders in the field on opportunities and challenges for risk mitigation in agriculture using financial instruments.
